Italy Approves Its First Space Economy Law

Italy has officially passed its first law dedicated to the space economy. On June 12, 2025, the Italian Senate gave final approval to the new legislation, marking a significant milestone for the country’s space sector.

The law establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for space activities carried out by private operators under Italian jurisdiction. It addresses key issues such as mandatory insurance for space missions, government authorization procedures, and support for startups and innovation in the space sector.

The legislation aims to promote the sustainable development of Italy’s space industry while ensuring safety, competitiveness, and compliance with international obligations.
